The Shirakaba double bevel marking knife allows the end user to mark on the right or left of the wood and is used for marking dovetails, tenon shoulders or the lengths of mortices. (The knife mark helps to guide the Dozuki saw or chisel blade when starting the cut). A pencil line is not accurate for this kind of work and is uneven from beginning to end.
